President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says he will continue bringing different projects to Dedza as one way of improving people’s livelihoods.
Speaking during a whistle-stop tour at Bembeke Trading Centre in the district, the president said it is important to empower people for them to be independent.
“We want women and Youth to be responsible so I will ensure that they benefit from the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) as we are going to make it easy for them to access it,” said the President.
He said to make the lives of people easy, government will install Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP) Phase 9 transformers in the area for easy access to electricity.
In his remarks, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kamenyagwaza pleaded with the president to construct hostels for Community Day Secondary Schools ( CDSS) in the area saying students find it hard to get houses for boarding.
He further asked the president to help them with dams so that they could use them for irrigation as it is difficult to access water in the area.
He added,” We need the government to upgrade more roads in the area as many are damaged. It helps farmers as they easily transport their farm produce.
The president conducted a whistle- stop tour at Kaphuka , Mayani , Kanyama,Chikuse,Kasumbu, Bembeke trading centre as well as Dedza Boma where he has been encouraging people to go and register for the 2025 general elections.
