As the UTM Presidency Battle Heats Up Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, a top contender for the position, has sounded a warning to party delegates: beware of “recycled politicians” with nothing to offer.
He emphasized that Malawians are suffering due to poor policies implemented by past regimes, some of which involve current UTM presidential hopefuls.
The conglomerate turned politician urged delegates to unite behind the UTM agenda, rather than wasting time with hand-out-driven candidates who may continue to plunder public funds if mistakenly voted back into power.
“Receive any money offered, but use it wisely and remember your duty to elect rightful leaders who’ll drive economic prosperity and progress,” Mtumbuka stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, another UTM presidential aspirant, has disassociated himself from a statement allegedly released under his name regarding Mtumbuka.
Kabambe reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, unity, and integrity, promoting respectful discourse and harmony within and outside UTM.
“I encourage respectful discourse and the promotion of harmony across all, within and outside UTM,” Kabambe said through his Facebook page “I kindly urge all parties to confirm the authenticity of any material attributed to me before sharing”.
As the November 17 convention approaches, the UTM presidency battle intensifies other contenders include Patricia Kaliati, Newton Kambala, and Michael Usi and Penjani Kalua.
As to who will emerge victorious, the nation watches with bated breath.
