Patricia Kaliati’s case fails to proceed despite her arrival at court

By Burnett Munthali

The case involving Patricia Kaliati, scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. today with a court session to outline procedural directions, failed to proceed despite her arrival at the court.

Kaliati’s lawyer, Khwima Mchizi, reported that they were informed the case would not move forward today but were directed to seek explanations from the state side for the delay. Mchizi expressed their readiness for the case and desire for a swift trial process.

According to Mchizi, the state has yet to submit evidence documents to the defense, which has further stalled progress.

The state representatives made no statements regarding the delay.

Kaliati is facing charges related to alleged involvement in a plot to harm the country’s leader.
