The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has expressed disagreement with the findings of an Afrobarometer survey that suggests the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) would have won the elections held in August this year.
MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwila responded to the survey by stating that the sample size used in the research does not reflect the true desires of all Malawians. She argued that the findings are not a fair representation of the entire population and should not be used to draw conclusions about the political will of the people.
Kabwila further stated that the DPP cannot defeat the MCP, as her party is committed to fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the Malawian people. She emphasized that MCP has been working tirelessly to address the country’s challenges and that the party enjoys widespread support among Malawians.
Political analyst Wonderful Mkuntche also weighed in on the matter, advising political parties not to dismiss research findings but to critically engage with them. He encouraged all political parties to respect the views expressed in such surveys and use the information as a basis for improving their strategies moving forward.
