A disturbing incident has unfolded in Blantyre where a 48-year-old father, Macferson Chitala, has been arrested for allegedly failing to protect his daughter from abuse by her stepmother.

The incident came to light last week when the father’s daughter reported the abuse to the authorities.

The stepmother, Linda Chitala, is accused of physically abusing the child.

According to Patricia Njawiri, the police officer in charge of the South Lunzu area, the father and stepmother will appear in court to answer charges related to the abuse.

Njawiri stated that despite being aware of the abuse, the father failed to take action to protect his daughter.

“The father’s failure to protect his son has led to his arrest and potential prosecution.”

The incident highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable children from abuse and the need for parents and caregivers to take responsibility for ensuring their safety and well-being.
