President Lazarus Chakwera has confirmed via his Facebook page that the Commission of Inquiry tasked with investigating the June 10 plane crash has officially delivered its final report. This milestone marks a crucial phase in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
The President announced immediate steps to ensure transparency and inclusivity in sharing the report’s findings. He has directed the Commission to distribute hard copies to the families of the victims by the end of tomorrow, with a broader public release scheduled for Monday.
In his statement, Chakwera expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commission for its dedication and commitment, acknowledging the immense challenges they faced.
“The work you have done has exposed you to a lot of misunderstanding and abuse, not only because you have been investigating a politically sensitive subject… but also because the nation’s wounds from the tragedy have not yet fully healed,” Chakwera wrote.
The President also praised the Commission’s resilience, urging its members not to let criticisms overshadow their significant contributions to the investigation.
As he reviews the report, Chakwera pledged to carefully examine its recommendations and to announce his decisions on the findings in due time.
