Bright Vision Community-Based Organization (CBO) has called on traditional chiefs to actively participate in development activities within their areas. The plea was made by the CBO’s Director, Mr. Bright Chaponda, during the official opening of a training session for chiefs and other stakeholders in Traditional Authority Chadza.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Chaponda emphasized the need for chiefs to uphold transparency and accountability to foster meaningful development. He also encouraged them to be vigilant in caring for vulnerable members of their communities.

“The role of chiefs in development cannot be overstated. You are custodians of the community and should lead by example in promoting transparency and accountability. This will ensure that everyone benefits and the area develops,” said Chaponda.

The training session was funded by SOS Lilongwe as part of its exit strategy in supporting Bright Vision CBO. The program focused on equipping chiefs with knowledge and skills to effectively support development initiatives in their respective areas.

Group Village Head Makanga, one of the chiefs who attended the training, urged his fellow chiefs to remain non-partisan in their leadership. He also encouraged them to continue supporting the activities of Bright Vision CBO, which is making a significant impact in the community.

“We, as chiefs, must be neutral and focused on the well-being of our people. Let us continue to work closely with organizations like Bright Vision CBO to bring about positive change in our communities,” said Makanga.

Operating in Traditional Authority Chadza, Bright Vision CBO implements various activities aimed at improving the lives of marginalized individuals. One of its notable initiatives includes paying school fees for secondary school learners across different schools, enabling vulnerable students to continue their education.

The training session concluded with a call for all stakeholders, including chiefs, to work together in ensuring the sustainability of development efforts in the area. By fostering collaboration and accountability, Bright Vision CBO aims to uplift the lives of marginalized communities and build a brighter future.
