The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has made a groundbreaking appointment with the hiring of Swiss national Nora Hauptle as the new head coach of the Copper Queens.
Hauptle, a former international defender for Switzerland, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has previously coached Ghana’s Black Queens, where she gained valuable insight into African women’s football and developed a reputation for her tactical expertise and leadership.
The appointment is a historic one, as Hauptle becomes the first European to take on the top job with Zambia’s women’s national football team. She has signed a three-year contract with FAZ, which sets the stage for an exciting new chapter for the Copper Queens as they prepare for upcoming competitions, including international friendlies and the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON).
Hauptle’s appointment has been met with enthusiasm from fans and players alike, who are hopeful that her experience will elevate the Copper Queens to new heights in African and global football.
Speaking after the announcement, Hauptle expressed her excitement at taking on the challenge of leading Zambia’s women’s football team. “I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with such talented players. My goal is to bring success to the Copper Queens and help them achieve their full potential,” she said.
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga also expressed confidence in Hauptle’s ability to lead the team. “Nora is a highly qualified coach, and we believe she is the right person to take the Copper Queens forward. We are excited for what the future holds under her leadership.”
As the Copper Queens prepare for a busy year ahead, Hauptle’s experience and leadership will be crucial in shaping the team’s strategy and success. The FAZ and fans are hopeful that her tenure will mark the beginning of a golden era for Zambia’s women’s football team.
