On New Year’s Day, as the world rang in 2025 with celebrations and joy, the Wonderful Kids Foundation CBO brought hope and cheer to the patients at Mitundu Hospital in Lilongwe District. The event, which was in line with the organization’s mission of caring for the disadvantaged, saw members of the foundation visiting the hospital to distribute various essential items to those in need.

In a heartwarming gesture, the CBO, which operates under Traditional Authority Chingala in Mitundu, took time to visit the patients and their guardians. The action was inspired by the words in the Holy Bible that say, “I was sick and you cheered me; I was in prison and you visited me,” a passage that underpins the foundation’s commitment to serving the vulnerable.

Mrs. C. Chabingah, the founder of the Wonderful Kids Foundation, explained that the visit was part of their planned activities for the New Year, as laid out in their action plan. “We thought it wise to visit the patients as part of our mission to care for the disadvantaged,” she shared. “I am happy that today, my desired vision of giving back to the community has been accomplished.”

The event also saw the presence of Group Village Headman Mitundu, who serves as the Board Chairperson of the foundation. He expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed towards the procurement of essential items for the patients, such as soap, sugar, flour, and salt. “I want to thank everyone who made this possible. Your support has made a significant difference for the patients here at Mitundu Hospital,” he said.

The Medical In-Charge of Mitundu Hospital also expressed his appreciation for the foundation’s efforts. He revealed that the hospital faces numerous challenges in caring for its patients, and the items donated by the Wonderful Kids Foundation have helped alleviate some of these challenges. “We are grateful for what Wonderful Kids Foundation has done today. It is acts like these that make our work here easier and bring hope to the patients,” he added.

One of the guardians of a patient at the hospital also took a moment to thank the foundation. “We are able to celebrate the New Year, even though we are at the hospital, and it is because of your kindness. May God bless you for your generosity and thoughtfulness,” the guardian said, visibly moved by the gesture.

The function was attended by radio personnel from Mitundu Community Radio, who covered the event and shared the heartwarming story with the local community.

The Wonderful Kids Foundation CBO’s visit to Mitundu Hospital serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and selflessness, especially during times when others are facing hardship. It highlights the significant role that organizations like this play in bringing joy and relief to the vulnerable in society.
