The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has called on all its candidates contesting in the upcoming parliamentary by-elections to intensify their preparations ahead of the polls. The party’s Director of Elections, Kondwani Phiri, made the remarks while addressing aspiring candidates at a meeting held in Ekwendeni, Mzimba.
The by-elections, scheduled to take place on February 14, are expected to be highly competitive, with various political parties vying for the vacant parliamentary seats. Phiri emphasized the importance of strategic preparation, urging candidates to engage with voters effectively and articulate the party’s vision for development.
During the gathering, which was attended by senior officials from the party’s election committee, Phiri reminded the candidates of the need for discipline, unity, and issue-based campaigning. He stressed that MCP is committed to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process, urging all contestants to uphold the party’s values throughout their campaigns.
The meeting also provided a platform for candidates to discuss campaign strategies and address any challenges they anticipate during the election period. MCP officials present at the gathering assured candidates of the party’s full support in mobilizing resources and engaging communities to secure victory.
With just days remaining before the by-elections, MCP continues to solidify its political presence in the region. The party’s leadership remains confident that through thorough preparation and effective grassroots engagement, its candidates will emerge victorious.
