Dalitso Kabambe has announced that if he assumes office in September this year, his administration will focus on five key areas: agriculture, trade, mining, tourism, and an annual K100 billion government investment to spur national development.
He emphasized that agriculture will be a priority, as it is the backbone of Malawi’s economy, employing the majority of its population. He believes that improving agricultural productivity and introducing modern farming techniques will significantly boost food security and economic growth.
Kabambe also highlighted the importance of trade in strengthening the economy. He pledged to create an environment that supports businesses, promotes exports, and attracts investors. His administration aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and provide incentives for both local and foreign traders.
In the mining sector, Kabambe stated that Malawi has untapped mineral resources that, if properly managed, could transform the country’s economy. He plans to introduce policies that will ensure responsible mining practices, fair revenue distribution, and job creation for Malawians.
Tourism is another area he intends to develop, recognizing Malawi’s potential as a prime tourist destination. He stressed that investing in infrastructure, marketing Malawi internationally, and improving services in the tourism industry would generate foreign exchange and create employment opportunities.
Furthermore, Kabambe promised that his government would allocate K100 billion annually to accelerate national development. He believes that this investment will help finance infrastructure projects, improve public services, and stimulate economic growth in various sectors.
He expressed confidence that Malawi would experience significant transformation within a short period if his party takes over the government this year. According to Kabambe, many of the ideas that the late Vice President Saulos Chilima envisioned for the country need to be realized, and his administration will work to implement them.
With a clear focus on economic transformation, Dalitso Kabambe’s vision presents a strategic plan aimed at addressing some of Malawi’s most pressing challenges and unlocking the nation’s full potential.
