DPP calls on Malawians to rally behind Peter Mutharika for economic redemption

By Burnett Munthali

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has urged Malawians to throw their full support behind Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, describing him as the only leader capable of rescuing the country from its deepening economic crisis.

DPP Vice President for the North, Jappie Mhango, made these remarks during a political rally held at Milala in Mzimba, where the party officially introduced its shadow Member of Parliament for Mzimba Solola Constituency, Rightwell Mahowe.

Mhango emphasized that Mutharika remains the best option for Malawians, arguing that the country is grappling with multiple challenges that are man-made and a direct result of poor leadership.

He stated that Malawians made a mistake when they voted for the current administration and that the time has come to bring back Mutharika, who has already been tested in leadership and has proven his capabilities.

Mhango further stressed that the economic hardships facing the country are a consequence of mismanagement and failed policies under the current regime, which he said has failed to meet the expectations of Malawians.

He was accompanied by DPP’s Northern Region Governor, Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, who also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to reclaiming power in the upcoming elections.

Ngwira assured the people of Mzimba that if DPP returns to government, it will complete all the development projects that were initiated during their previous administration but have since stalled under the current leadership.

The rally saw enthusiastic support from DPP supporters, many of whom expressed their discontent with the current government and echoed calls for Mutharika’s return to the presidency.

The DPP leadership in the North has vowed to intensify campaign efforts across the region, ensuring that Malawians understand the need for change and a return to stable leadership under Mutharika.

As the country inches closer to the next elections, DPP remains confident that Malawians will make the right decision and vote for a leader with a proven track record.
