A power struggle is brewing within the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as Presidential Spokesperson Shadrick Namalomba and Presidential Bodyguard Norman Chisale are reportedly boasting about their indispensability to the party’s leader, Peter Mutharika.

According to sources within the party, Namalomba and Chisale have been blocking access to Mutharika, making it difficult for other party members to meet with the former president.

The duo is said to be backing Mutharika’s presidential bid despite concerns about his ability to lead due to his advanced age.

Namalomba and Chisale’s grip on power has raised eyebrows within the party, with some members expressing frustration about their inability to access Mutharika.

The duo’s influence has also sparked concerns about the direction of the party and the potential consequences of Mutharika’s continued leadership.

Mutharika’s health has been a subject of concern in recent years, with the former president often being absent from public events due to illness.

Despite this, Namalomba and Chisale are said to be pushing for Mutharika to run for president again, a move that has been met with skepticism by some party members.

The power struggle within the DPP comes at a time when the party is trying to rebrand itself and regain public trust.

The party’s image has been tarnished by allegations of corruption and mismanagement during Mutharika’s presidency.

In the meantime, Namalomba and Chisale’s grip on power continues to raise questions about the direction of the DPP and the potential consequences of Mutharika’s continued leadership.

As one party insider noted, “The party needs to move forward, but with Namalomba and Chisale controlling access to the president, it’s difficult to see how that will happen.”
