Arrogance has no place in leadership, yet it seems to have become a defining trait of those in power. In both government and the church, arrogance is a characteristic that Malawians recognize instantly. Mr. President, let me be clear and direct. I am both shocked and embarrassed by your recent statement: “Andimva kuwawa mpaka 2030.” Such a remark is not just addressed to your political opponents but to every Malawian who entrusted you with their vote. This statement reveals an arrogance we have long suspected but chose to ignore, believing instead that you were a God-fearing man. Today, Malawians can see your true character, and it is deeply disappointing.
Honorable Felix Njawala has already reminded you that you did not seize power by force. You were chosen by the people, not because they lacked alternatives, but because they believed you were the right man for the job. Now, that trust has turned to regret. We should have listened to those from the Assemblies of God Church who warned us about your arrogance. They were right. You are indeed arrogant. Even the late Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima never truly trusted you. He had doubts about you until the day he died, and I could repeat this assertion before his very spirit. He saw what many Malawians are only now realizing.
Yes, Mr. President, we are suffering, and we feel the pain of your leadership. But let me correct your timeline—it will not be until 2030. No, Malawians will endure this hardship only until September 16, 2025. Your continued stay in power will not be determined by force or manipulation. It is the people of Malawi who will decide your fate. And let me be blunt: Malawians do not want you anymore. They are suffering under your administration. Prices of basic goods—maize, soap, sugar, cooking oil—have skyrocketed. Corruption is rampant, with government funds disappearing into the pockets of those who swore to serve the nation. Money has been looted from butcheries, pharmacies, and ministries while ordinary Malawians struggle to survive.
And yet, you stand before the nation, on television and radio, proclaiming that you will not leave office. What do you mean by that? Are you suggesting the use of force? Have you already rigged the elections? Do you take Malawians for fools? This is a grave mistake. Your words have angered the people, and only those who blindly follow you or benefit from the system continue to applaud. The majority of Malawians have had enough. They will no longer allow themselves to be manipulated by you and the Malawi Congress Party. The frustration and anger today surpass those of 2020, and Malawians have every reason to remove you from power.
You have had a taste of power, and now your true self is exposed. Thank you for revealing who you really are. But do not forget, we put you in power with our votes, and with those same votes, we will remove you. You will not intimidate or instill fear in us. The truth remains: you are the worst president Malawi has ever had. Your leadership is disastrous, dictated by others who manipulate you for their own gain. Malawians see this, and they no longer want you at the helm.
However, as much as I have criticized the MCP and its leadership, I must also caution Malawians about the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). We are witnessing certain figures—men and a woman—positioning themselves within the party’s leadership. Do not be deceived. If Malawians vote for the DPP again, they will suffer even more than they do now. The party knows that if it wins, it will be its last term in office, and like rodents devouring a harvest, they will loot everything they can before they leave. Malawians must be vigilant and cautious with their votes.
In the face of these challenges, I urge Malawians to place their trust in Dr. Dalitso Kabambe. He is the economic engineer, the beacon of hope for Malawi’s youth, and the true leader of today. It is time to stop clapping hands for thieves and manipulators. Malawi must wake up. We are exhausted by the deception and greed of those in power. Let this message be repeated every day until the elections. Malawi must rise and take a stand. The future of our nation depends on it.
