The Malawi First, an organization established to represent the voiceless citizens in Malawi has penned the international community calling for their attention and action regarding issues surrounding Malawi’s political violence being perpetrated by the MCP, the party in government.
There have been threats of intimidations, beatings and hacking by MCP sponsored thugs to members of the opposition political parties and activists in Malawi which has seen President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera condemning it by words without taking decisive action to arrest and prosecute his thugs.
The political violence in Malawi forced the United States of America (USA) and the British governments issuing a warning letter to Malawi that they will stop providing support to the two security institutions MDF and Malawi Police Service (MPS).
In the warning letter to Malawi, the two governments requested the Government of Malawi arrests all those that are behind MCPs perpetrated political violence which the Malawi Government responded through fake arrests of three MCP thugs.
A leaked phone call conversation revealed that the claimed arrested three MCP thugs were not arrested at all on the claims that government cannot be arrested meaning that they are in government and no one can arrest them.
In a letter which has been written by Malawi First signed by Bon Kalindo on behalf of many Malawians who are voiceless, and forwarded to the American President Donald .J. Trump, Kalindo has expressed his deep concern about escalating violence in Malawi particularly attacks by MCP sponsored thugs to opposition party members and activists.
The letter which has been copied to the British Prime Minister and High Commissioners and Ambassadors represented in Malawi, Kalindo has urged the USA and British governments to promote peaceful and democratic processes ahead of the 16th September, 2025 General Elections in Malawi.
In the letter, Kalindo said the recent incidence of violence of attacking civil servants who were excessing their rights through peaceful demonstrations for fair wages in the Capital-Lilongwe, were very very unfortunate, they were hacked by the same MCP thugs claiming that till this day, these MCP thugs whose identities are known, have not been arrested, charged and brought to court.
Kalindo said DPP supporters were also hacked when they were escorting their Vice President who was arrested on mere political grounds claiming that many people were injured mostly women who are vulnerable to the situations of this nature.
“These attacks on opposition party members, CSOs members and activists which are alarming, are undermining the democratic principles which Malawians worked for so hard to establish saying it is essential for the international community to condemn such violence and support efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among Malawians,” reads the letter in part.
Kalindo has requested President Trump to publicly condemn the MCP perpetrated political violence in Malawi by urging all political parties to respect democratic principles and Human rights as well as supporting initiatives that support peaceful elections, democratic governance and Human rights.
In the letter, Kalindo has asked President Trump to engage the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) and direct it to hire an Independent Auditor for proper effectiveness of the elections and encouraging the Malawi Government to take concrete steps to prevent further violence and ensure accountability for those responsible.
Kalindo has also asked President Trump to engage the MDF and Malawi Police Service to be more professional as they are seen lacking professionalism worshipping politicians that the dangers of political iolence can be devastating leading to erosion of democracy and human rights abuses.
