Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Secretary General Bishop Greyson Mikuwa, says as the country is preparing for the General Elections on the 16th September, 2025 there is need for all registered political parties in the country to be attending electoral related meetings so that together, they are one striving for a free, fair, transparent and credible elections.
Bishop Mikuwa said it is the wish of all registered political parties to see to it that the elections are conducted in a transparent way and the entry point of this, is inviting all parties to a one meeting for the electoral messages to reach out to all equally.
He said if only two or three political parties are invited to a meeting which could have been attended by all registered political parties, some of the parties not invited will suffer inferiority complex that the organizers of such meetings take them for granted.
Speaking through an audio clip, Mikuwa has registered his concern that meetings which are organized by the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec), Registrar of Political Parties, the European Union and other organizations, only a handful of invited parties attend, describing this as a worrisome development.
Mikuwa gave an example of an EU meeting which will take place in Lilongwe on Thursday, the invitation letter is reading all registered parties have been invited but the organizers of the meeting have invited only parties with their representatives in Parliament.
He said when parties that have been deliberately not invited to the meeting made a follow up, they are being told that funding is only catering to the invited parties saying this alone is raising suspicion that there’s a hidden agenda which is being discussed ahead of the 16th September, 2025 elections.
The MRP Secretary General is suspecting that ghost guests are the ones attending meetings which invites all political parties that within the organizers themselves, there are crooks who are pocketing allowances for the parties invited and not attending the meetings.
“We are all registered political parties, we will field our candidates, President, Members of Parliament and councilors, there is need for all of us to attend meetings on electoral related matters,” said Mikuwa.
He said the Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) is on record only inviting political parties which have MPs in Parliament arguing that this time, the question of MPs in Parliament must be ruled out as all registered parties are fielding their candidates for the 16th September, 2025 General Elections.
