The regional governor of the People’s Party (PP) in the Mvuma area, Maxwell Sakwiya, has confidently declared that the alliance between the PP and Mafunde will take over government on September 16, 2025.
Sakwiya made these remarks during a political rally held in Balaka.
The rally was jointly organized by the People’s Party and Mafunde, showcasing a united political front.
Addressing the gathering, Sakwiya urged Malawians to prepare for a new dawn.
He stated that the challenges currently being faced by the people will be a thing of the past once the alliance assumes power.
Sakwiya’s tone was one of confidence and assurance, offering hope to the people of Balaka and beyond.
During the same rally, George Mnesa of the Mafunde party, who has shown interest in contesting as Member of Parliament for Balaka Ngwangwa constituency, also addressed the audience.
Mnesa appealed to the people to support the alliance if they truly desired development in their area.
He emphasized that it was only through unity and shared vision that meaningful progress would come.
His call to action was met with cheers from the crowd, who appeared hopeful for a change in leadership.
These political developments come just as the country prepares for a major election.
There are only 164 days remaining until the Malawi Electoral Commission holds the tripartite elections.
On that day, Malawians will vote for the next President, Members of Parliament, and local government councilors.
The rally in Balaka marked a significant moment in the campaign trail for the PP-Mafunde alliance.
With bold declarations and promises of transformation, the alliance is positioning itself as a serious contender for power in the upcoming elections.
