The National Development Party (NDP) has expressed its readiness to form an electoral alliance with any political party as the country prepares for the September 2025 elections.

This declaration was made after the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Lilongwe.

During the meeting, NDP President Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo revealed that the party is ready to collaborate with other political parties, recognizing the evolving nature of democratic institutions in Malawi.

Mwenifumbo emphasized that they have a solid understanding of how electoral alliances operate, which will guide them in making informed decisions moving forward.

“We have gained significant insights into how electoral alliances function, and I assure you that the NDP is prepared to navigate all scenarios and chart the best way forward,” Mwenifumbo stated confidently.

The party also officially endorsed Mwenifumbo as its presidential candidate for the upcoming 2025 elections during the NEC meeting.

Mwenifumbo’s endorsement solidifies his position as the NDP’s standard-bearer, signaling the party’s commitment to participating actively in the upcoming political contest.

The announcement of the potential alliance and the presidential endorsement signals a strategic move by the NDP to position itself strongly in the 2025 elections.

As the political landscape continues to shift, the NDP’s willingness to form alliances could prove to be a crucial factor in their ability to garner support from a broader electorate.

This strategic positioning also reflects the party’s recognition of the importance of unity in achieving electoral success, particularly in a highly competitive environment.

With the election still a year away, political analysts will be watching closely to see which alliances the NDP forms and how these collaborations might impact the overall dynamics of the 2025 elections.

For now, the NDP is preparing itself for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as it seeks to make a significant impact on Malawi’s political future.
