Citizen, Patriot, and Defender of Democracy
“The mouth that eats alone cannot say the food is sweet.” So says wisdom of our ancestors’ . In the same spirit, we — the citizens of Malawi — cannot remain silent while the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) continues to mishandle the very process that determines the future of our beloved nation.
Let it be said loud and clear: we are not satisfied with the current MEC on way how they conduct their bussiness it is bussiness unusual.
The recent voter registration exercise was marred with glaring irregularities, discrepancies, and deliberate fraud — all seemingly designed to favor the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
From double registrations, to exclusion of millions of potential voters, to rushed processes that denied ordinary Malawians their constitutional right — this registration was not just flawed, it was poisoned from the root.
The use of Smartmatic machines — a system shrouded in controversy across the globe — has only added fuel to the fire.
To make matters worse, MEC has flatly refused to allow political parties or independent citizens to audit the process, in total violation of democratic tradition, transparency, and accountability.
” We are giving MEC a 7-day ultimatum to do the honorable and lawful thing:
- Call for a fresh voter registration exercise that is transparent, inclusive, and verifiable.
- Immediate resignation of Anabel Mtalimanja and other MCP-aligned figures from MEC who have compromised its integrity.
Should MEC fail to heed this call, on the 8th day, I — as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen — will file a strong case in court.
I will ask the judiciary to nullify the current fraudulent registration process, and demand that MCP loyalists be forcibly removed from the Commission’s leadership.
“A house built on lies cannot stand when the wind of truth blows.” We will not watch silently as our democracy is auctioned to the highest bidder.
I therefore call upon all citizens of goodwill, all defenders of justice, all lovers of truth, to join me at the court as we stand for the soul of our Republic.
MEC must be reminded: the power belongs to the people. And when the people rise — not even a rigged system can stand.
For Malawi. For Justice. For Democracy.
