Renowned Malawian musician Patience Namadingo has successfully concluded discussions with senior officials from the Mangochi District Council, aimed at assisting with the repair of some of the council’s broken vehicles. The talks, which Namadingo described as fruitful, were centered on how he can support the council’s operations through the restoration of its non-functioning fleet.

During the meeting, council officials reportedly asked Namadingo to submit a formal letter and follow the required government procedures before moving forward with the support. Namadingo has assured that he will comply with these protocols as requested, emphasizing his willingness to assist within the bounds of official regulations.

According to Namadingo, the council revealed that it currently has nine broken-down vehicles. Out of these, five are already being repaired using the council’s own resources, while the remaining four are the ones the council may permit him to fix. This gesture by Namadingo comes at a time when many government institutions across the country are struggling with limited resources.

Mangochi District Commissioner Davie Chigwenembe expressed gratitude for Namadingo’s initiative, noting that the council is in dire need of such support. He acknowledged that partnerships with patriotic citizens like Namadingo can greatly benefit public service delivery in times of budgetary constraints.

However, Chigwenembe clarified that it is still uncertain whether Namadingo will ultimately be granted permission to repair the vehicles. He explained that the council must first consult and adhere to its internal legal frameworks before approving such external assistance. The final decision, he said, will depend on whether such support is permissible under government guidelines.
