Social commentator graduated to an independent presidential aspirant for the 16th September, 2025 General Elections Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, has warned Christians to be alert to the action of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is seeming to be betraying them to the highest bidders.

President Chkwera and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Deputy Prime Minister who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on mining, education and diplomatic training at the Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo was quoted in the media as having said the deal signifies a good roadmap for the country’s vision 2063 to have a stable economic growth taking advantage of the good relationship existing between the two countries.

Sunganimoyo has expressed fears that once the Arabs are given full mandate to control the country’s resources, it is likely that the President is opting for an Islamic state assuring Malawians that their dignity and freedoms will be taken by the Arabs.

He has questioned President Chakwera why he is making such a wrong decision? Saying this betraying Christians to the Islamic stares is his desperation for support and has traded the future of Christianity in the country.

The commentator has warned everyone in Malawi that President Chakwera has no love for his people whose majority are Christians claiming that giving the country’s resources to Islamic states could lead to loss of control over the economy, imposition of sharia law and Islamic principles on the society.

He said the country could suffer from restrictions on its freedoms and human rights, potential persecution of Christians and other minorities, cultural and social changes that may not align with the values of the country.

“It’s crucial that we as Christians stand together and voice out our concern about this deal signed between Malawi and the UAE, we must ensure that our leaders prioritize our interests and values than compromising them for short-term gains,” said Sunganimoyo.

He has warned President Chakwera that if he is not changing his decision of working with the Islamic states, soon or before the elections on the 16th September, 2025 he will redirect the right candidate that Malawians could vote for.

Sunganimoyo has urged Malawians that this is the time for them to take stand and choose leaders who will truly represent the peoples’ values and protect their nation’s interests.
