The 14th registered political party, Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary (MRP) has commanded “tolerance” and leveled playing field if the 16th September, 2025 elections are going to be peaceful, credible, free and fair.
The MRP says “violence” are eggs to war appealing to all stakeholders in the country to not only preach, or speak peace but act peace, do peace and make peace saying Malawi is at risk of soon becoming a war –zone if the old-guard politics is allowed to continue retaining power.
The party has sent a message to the victims who were shot and nearly lost lives in Mponela that “Revenge” will not stabilize this country as two wrongs never make one right urging Malawians to intensify peace by removing all public officers who lies, cheat, corrupt and ignore guiding laws and principles.
Writing in a statement, MRP President Bantu Saunders Jumah, says the police and courts that were supposed to assure and ensure political stability are busy defending and shielding the guilt, and are failing to take action on public officers breaking the laws.
Jumah said the Inspector General of Police madam Merlylin Yolamu assured political parties youth directors that she will enforce full dozen security to all political parties only to see violence returning in Mponela where vehicles of DPP were shot and torched.
He has called for immediate removal of Police Inspector General for lying to political parties that she will ensure full dozen security before, during, and after elections and firing Police minister if security is to be maintained.
“Failure to take action on public officers breaking the laws will be treated as political orchestrated,” said Jumah.
He has noted with a great concern that the September, 2025 elections will never be free and fair looking at how state institutions, the Mec, Malawi Police, National Registration Bureau (NRB) and the MCP government are handling or have handed the process from registration of voters to security of competitors.
The MRP President said incidents of violence have shown its ugly face ever since the MCP got into power, democratic values have been under attack and violated observing that failure by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to act on his own words, have rendered public institutions and public officers to sleep on their jobs.
Jumah said Madam Yolamu has completely failed to enforce the law hence rendering security in Malawi vulnerable urging President Chakwera that Malawi is the only home the citizens have, saying time is now to prune and weed bad weeds.
