Karonga United were without their head coach Oscar Kaunda during their TNM Super League fixture against Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Wednesday afternoon, following a motorcycle accident he was involved in on Tuesday evening.
According to a statement released by the club’s media team, Kaunda sustained injuries during the accident and is currently recuperating. The statement did not detail the exact nature or extent of the injuries but confirmed that they were serious enough to prevent him from taking his place in the technical area for the match.
The absence of Kaunda, who has been instrumental in shaping the team’s tactical approach, was a significant setback for the Northern Region-based side, particularly as they were facing an in-form Ekhaya FC away from home.
