NBS Bank plc has renewed its technical assistance partnership with Rabobank of the Netherlands, further strengthening ties between the two financial institutions.

The renewed collaboration will extend through June 2026, marking another chapter in a relationship that has been growing steadily over the years.

This development was formalized during the 35th Anniversary Conference of Rabo Partnerships, held recently in the Netherlands.

The renewed agreement reflects a deepening commitment by both institutions to share knowledge, improve banking services, and promote financial inclusion.

NBS Bank, which is listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE), has long benefited from Rabobank’s global expertise in agricultural and rural banking.

The relationship between the two banks began informally, but over time it has evolved into a formal partnership delivering technical support and institutional capacity building.

Through this partnership, NBS Bank has been able to tap into Rabobank’s experience in modern banking practices, digital finance, and innovative customer solutions.

The renewed agreement is expected to enhance NBS Bank’s capabilities in serving smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and underserved market segments in Malawi.

According to the bank’s leadership, the partnership aligns with its broader strategy of driving inclusive finance and supporting national economic growth.

NBS Bank has described the partnership with Rabobank as “transformational,” crediting it for contributing to the bank’s recent technological advancements and staff training programs.

As Malawi continues to embrace digital financial services and expand access to credit, the extended alliance is likely to play a key role in shaping the future of the country’s banking sector.

The renewal of the partnership underscores the importance of international collaboration in strengthening domestic financial institutions and supporting sustainable development goals.
