Nissan’s Triber-Based MPV
The Japanese automaker has released teaser of its upcoming MPV, which will be based on the Renault Triber. The teaser shows Nissan’s signature front grille, redesigned LED DRLs, newly-designed alloy wheels, sporty bumper and functional roof rails. However, the projector headlamps appear identical to those of the Triber. Inside, the new Nissan MPV is expected to feature different upholstery and material quality.
Under the hood, the new Nissan MPV is likely to house the Triber’s 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This motor, with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox, produces a maximum power of 72bhp and 96Nm of torque.
Maruti Mini MPV
Codenamed YDB, the all-new Maruti Suzuki subcompact MPV is expected to debut in 2026. This model will sit below the Ertiga in the company’s product lineup and take on the Renault Triber and the upcoming new Nissan MPV. If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti mini MPV could be offered with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine, paired with the brand’s in-house developed strong hybrid system. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are expected to be on offer.
The Maruti YDB will be based on the Suzuki Spacia, which is already on sale in Japan. While the Japan-spec model features sliding rear door and an ADAS suite, the India-spec version is likely to miss out on these goodies considering its pricing and positioning
