MYF Brings Eid Joy to Hundreds Through Qurban Meat Distribution Across Malawi

The Muslim Youth Foundation (MYF) brought smiles to hundreds of less privileged families on Saturday through its annual Qurban initiative.

This year’s Qurban exercise saw the slaughter and distribution of 126 goats and 11 cattle across Malawi’s central and southern regions.

In the capital city Lilongwe alone, MYF distributed 115 goats and 9 cattle to various institutions and communities.

Beneficiaries included Amidu and Chiweza villages, Katsumwe CDSS, Maula Prison, Kamuzu Central Hospital, Bwaila Hospital, and Mama Bena Orphanage in Area 23.

Outside Lilongwe, the foundation extended its support to three other districts in the central region.

Ntchisi received six goats, while Nkhotakota benefited from nine goats.

In Salima, MYF distributed four goats and one cow, while Zomba in the southern region also received one cow.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, MYF Director of Communications Bright Malenga expressed deep gratitude to the donors who made this year’s initiative possible.

He emphasized that the Qurban initiative is about more than just the distribution of meat.

“It’s about sharing the joy of Eid al-Adha and showing solidarity with those in need,” Malenga stated.

One of the grateful recipients, Samson Chiweza—who also serves as Group Village Headman Chiweza in Traditional Authority Mbwatalika—commended MYF for including his community in the Qurban distribution.

He described the gesture as timely and meaningful, especially in light of the economic challenges many families are facing.

The Qurban project is one of MYF’s flagship humanitarian efforts aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities during significant Islamic celebrations.

Through such initiatives, MYF continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to compassion, inclusivity, and social support.
