Chakwera names Lilongwe Six Lane Road Chilima Highway

President Lazarus Chakwera says the June 10, 2024 event was the most devastating, heartbreaking and unforgettable.

While there are also events elsewhere related to the memorial, the President says such gatherings are complemeting each other.

He says what is needed is to cheer each other, thanking those he said avoided the temptation of bringing politics into the tragedy.

“We need to come before God and pray for one another, because time will surely come for us to die as well.

“We also need to respect all those who departed, each one of them requires respect, no one requires ridicule,” he says.

Chakwera also disclosed that he invited members of all the bereaved families, and has directed the Secretary to President and Cabinet to look into their challenges.

“Chilima was the most senior person among them all. As such, he deserves special recognition.

“As such, the Six lane road in Lilongwe will be called Chilima Highway,” he said.
