Jumah says Germany report is a lesson to Malawi’s future

By Vincent Gunde

President of the Revolutionary Party and Realist Bantu Saunders Jumah, says the final report from Germany that has found human error to have tragically killed Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest on the 10th June, 2024 is a great lesson for Malawi’s future.

In the report, the Germany has faulted the pilot wrong for fiying the military aircraft with an expired license and not medically fit when pilots are supposed to go for medical testing every after 3 months to certify them fit to fly planes.

Jumah said the exposure by the Germans is giving a true reflection that Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda was running the country with professionalism, Kamuzu was a visionary and dynamic leader even though the country was poor but after multiparty democracy in 1994 all the foundations that were laid by Kamuzu collapsed.

He said Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, died in a plane crash because of negligence and corruption, saying the country is in pieces, the standard of life is below zero percent and it is not surprising that when the President and Ministers are sick, they go outside the country for medical treatment while the people that are paying taxes are living in pathetic lives.

Speaking through his civic education and awareness programmes, Jumah said today, some other people are thinking that one party state is good than to be in democracy observing that this is so because Malawians have for 31 years of democracy been voting for leaders blindly, leaders with no vision for the country only their pockets.

Jumah said the country through multiparty democracy has failed in 99 percent corruption while under Kamuzu Banda corruption was 0.001 percent advising registered voters in Malawi that on the 16th September, 2025 elections they should not vote for myopic leaders to shame the country.

He said Kamuzu was running the country with ministers who did not have Degrees but the country was able to produce enough food for the people and sale the surplus and with multiparty democracy, the country’s leaders with Doctorate and Professorship credentials and ministers who are Degree holders, the country is worse, there is food deficit.

The Realist said Malawians are not living in an honest nation claiming that since 1994 elections in Malawi have never been free and fair thanking Justice Annastazia Msosa and Dr. Chifundo Kachale for ably handling elections in the people’s will because they were not swayed by politics of the political party in government.

“The way our governments are being run, people have no trust this is why they are demanding independent auditors to verify the voters’ roll, it is not easy to trust Mec, we have to go back to the 1994 Independent Electoral Commission (IEC),” said Jumah.

He has advised registered voters in Malawi to scrutinize and investigate all the candidates that are coming to them with promises of what they will do for the country by looking them on their faces for the country’s democracy not to be hijacked.

Jumah said it is sad that the country’s democracy has been taken for a ride, Malawians from 1994 have been electing leaders not trusted and not true democrats like Henry Masauko Chipembere, Orton Chirwa and Chakufwa Thom Chihana.
