Illovo Sugar Malawi Commemorates World Day for Safety and Health at Work in Chikwawa

Illovo Sugar Malawi plc on Monday joined the global community in commemorating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work at its Nchalo Factory in Chikwawa District.

The annual event, endorsed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), aims to raise awareness on the importance of preventing occupational accidents and diseases in workplaces around the world.

The commemoration highlights Illovo’s commitment to promoting a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees and stakeholders.

The day’s activities commenced with a Big Walk, which began at the Shire Club within the company’s estate and concluded at Kalulu Primary School.

The walk was symbolic of the collective journey toward improving workplace safety and encouraging proactive measures in accident prevention.

Following the walk, participants engaged in a series of planned events focused on workplace safety education, employee wellness, and building a culture of responsibility among workers.

Illovo Sugar Malawi emphasized that occupational safety remains a key priority in its operations, aligning with international standards and national labour policies.

The event served as a reminder of the company’s continued investment in ensuring that health and safety are integral to its productivity and employee welfare goals.
