Kauma Ground in Lilongwe was electrified with activity this afternoon as enthusiastic supporters gathered in large numbers to rally behind the return of former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement, chants, and patriotic music as supporters from across Lilongwe converged to show their allegiance.
A wave of energy swept through the venue as individuals, young and old, appended their signatures in support of Mutharika’s return to active political leadership.
Signatures flooded across registration tables, symbolizing growing grassroots momentum for what many are calling a “Return to Proven Leadership.”
Supporters cited Mutharika’s past achievements in economic stability, infrastructure development, and strong governance as reasons for wanting his comeback.
Organizers of the event say the signature campaign is part of a broader nationwide movement to reinstate Mutharika as the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) torchbearer ahead of the 2025 elections.
Banners and placards bearing slogans such as “Bring Back APM” and “Leadership that Delivers” were displayed prominently around the ground.
Speakers who took to the podium praised Mutharika’s experience and calm leadership style, contrasting it with the current administration’s perceived shortcomings.
One speaker declared that Malawians are tired of “noise without action” and are yearning for a return to leadership that once brought tangible results.
Police were seen monitoring the event at a distance, but the gathering remained peaceful and orderly throughout the afternoon.
As the signature count continued to rise, the message from Kauma Ground was clear: a growing section of Malawians in Lilongwe is calling for the return of Arthur Peter Mutharika.
