Mrs. Kunje Declares: “Malawians Want Mutharika to Save Them from a Directionless MCP Government”

By Burnett Munthali

In a bold and emotionally charged statement at the Masintha political rally on Sunday, 13th July 2025, Mrs. Kunje captured the mood of a frustrated nation.

She stood before a crowd desperate for leadership, clarity, and change.

With conviction in her voice, she declared, “These people want Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to save them.”

Her statement was met with applause, signaling that many in the audience shared the same sentiment.

Mrs. Kunje made it clear that this call for Mutharika’s return is not driven by nostalgia, but by necessity.

According to her, the current Malawi Congress Party (MCP) government has lost its way.

She described the MCP administration as one “lacking direction,” a powerful phrase that resonated with those who feel the country is adrift in a sea of economic hardship and leadership confusion.

Her words reflected the frustrations of ordinary Malawians—farmers, vendors, civil servants, and youths—who are struggling to survive amid high prices, joblessness, and political arrogance.

Mrs. Kunje’s call was not merely political endorsement; it was a national plea for rescue.

She positioned Mutharika not just as a former president, but as a potential savior with the vision and experience to restore order and growth.

Her speech added fuel to the growing momentum behind Mutharika’s possible comeback and intensified public scrutiny of the Chakwera-led administration.

At Masintha Ground, Mrs. Kunje gave voice to the unspoken prayers of many Malawians.

And in doing so, she may have stirred a political wave that could redefine the 2025 elections.
