A Voice of the voiceless citizen of Malawi Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has described President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s speech calling for political parties, supporters and candidates to conduct their campaign in a violent-free environment, as empty.
Kamphangala said after learning that President Chakwera would be addressing the nation, he thought that he will inform Malawians that following growing calls of concerns, he has dismissed from work Army Commander, Inspector General of Police and Minister of Homeland Security for failing to protect citizens on the 26th June, 2025 in Lilongwe.
He said it would have been better if President Chakwera did not address Malawians faulting his advisors wrong for encouraging him to speak to Malawians while he has so many issues unresolved awaiting for his responses.
The voiceless citizen said President Chakwera must be the last person to preach peace and unity in Malawi claiming that while he was in Nigeria, he condemned the action displayed by Malawi Police and MDF officers for letting civilians including activist Sylvester Namiwa hacked in their full view.
Kamphangala has dismissed claims made by President Chakwera that all Malawians must be law abiders while the laws are protecting some other people loyalist to the MCP for arrests and prosecutions in court for their action.
He said if the country had laws that all Malawians must be under it, all those brandishing pangas in towns, hacking, terrorizing, threatening and intimidating fellow innocent citizens, would have by now been languishing in the country’s prisons.
In his evening address to the nation, President Chakwera urged all Malawians to participate in the campaign rallies saying no one should threaten each other and if found, he should be reported to police wishing Malawians a peaceful-free campaign.
President Chakwera appealed to political parties not to declare their areas no- go- zones to other political parties and players as well as removing campaign materials for others, describing this as inciting violence and that no one should snatch away ones’ voter certificate.
Kamphangala said he did not expect President Chakwera to address Malawians as if Malawians don’t know that he is the one sponsoring his party’s thugs to incite political violence in Malawi observing that his speech alone, has been proved that Malawians are not safe during this period of campaign.
“His speech was empty and not wealthy to have come from the mouth of the country’s first citizen and him being an ordained church Priest, the whole speech lasting without mentioning panga wielding thugs, “said Kamphangala.
He has advised political parties to campaign without security being provided by Malawi Police and MDF because the enemy is from within hence no need to trust these officers but they should identify within the officers themselves the people to provide them with security in their rallies
The voiceless citizen has expressed fears that there’s the issue of guns distributed to MCP youth operatives claiming that when a lie has been overstayed, it becomes true observing that at Mponela in Dowa, people heard gunshots but this till today, it has not been investigated, describing this as a worrisome development ahead of the 16th September, 2025 elections.
