The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Women’s Conference in Ntchisi East was marked by strong calls for unity and development as former Minister Mary Navicha urged residents to vote for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a gathering of women, Navicha described Mutharika as a leader who is inclusive and free from regional bias.

She emphasized that during his presidency, cabinet positions were distributed without favoritism and development projects were implemented across the country regardless of political or regional affiliation.

Navicha cited the provision of electricity to Ntchisi as a clear example of the DPP government’s commitment to equitable development.

She further encouraged the people of Ntchisi East to elect Twammie Chimungu as their Member of Parliament, arguing that the current economic and social challenges are affecting women the most.

According to Navicha, electing a woman leader such as Chimungu would ensure that women’s issues receive the attention they deserve, as women leaders often prioritize community welfare and practical solutions to local problems.

Navicha also advised Chimungu to continue maintaining good relations with her constituents, stressing that her hard work and dedication will speak volumes during the campaign.

In a passionate appeal, Navicha warned the audience against adopting a defeatist attitude and urged them to reject the mindset of hopelessness, commonly referred to as “Kanga-kanga.”

She explained that while some people in Ntchisi complain about the state of the nation, they should recognize that the hardships are widespread and require strong leadership and unity to overcome.

Navicha concluded her speech by stating that voting for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as President and Twammie Chimungu as Member of Parliament would be a vote for progress, stability, and inclusive development.

She declared that with these choices, Ntchisi East would be choosing a brighter future with tangible opportunities for both men and women in the community.
