Former Malawi national team defender, Limbikani Mzava, has officially joined Malaysian top-tier side Penang Football Club, marking a fresh chapter in his illustrious career.

Mzava, who spent the last season with South African outfit Magesi FC, signed with Penang as a free agent. The club unveiled the seasoned centre-back on their official website this morning, expressing high hopes for his impact on the team’s defence.

“Say hello to Limbikani Oscar Mzava, the commanding centre-back ready to anchor the Panthers’ defence with strength and authority..! Wearing jersey number 5, Mzava brings grit, aerial power, and natural leadership — just what Penang FC needs to tighten things up at the back. Defenders win games too, and this one is built to dominate..! Let’s give him a proud Penang welcome,” read part of the club’s announcement.

Mzava, known for his calmness under pressure and ability to marshal the backline, brings a wealth of experience, having featured for several top clubs in South Africa, including Lamontville Golden Arrows, Highlands Park, and AmaZulu FC.

His move to Asia comes at a time when Penang FC is looking to bolster its defensive unit as they fight for a better standing in the Malaysian Super League.

The Malawian defender is expected to bring leadership both on and off the pitch, qualities he exhibited as captain of the Flames in various international tournaments.

Mzava will wear jersey number 5 at Penang FC, and fans are already buzzing with excitement to see him in action.

For Mzava, it’s not just a new contract — it’s a new challenge, and one he seems more than ready to embrace.
