MEC Chairperson, Honourable Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, has confirmed that the presidential nomination papers submitted by independent candidate Cosmas Felix Chipojola have successfully passed the preliminary inspection.
This development marks a significant milestone in Chipojola’s journey to contest in the September 2025 General Election.
The successful inspection means that Chipojola has met all the initial requirements set by the Malawi Electoral Commission for presidential aspirants.
Justice Mtalimanja made the confirmation following a detailed vetting process conducted by MEC officials.
The clearance adds momentum to Chipojola’s campaign, which gained attention after he named Memory Naveko as his running mate.
As an independent candidate, Chipojola’s approval signals the inclusivity and openness of Malawi’s democratic electoral process.
He now joins the list of approved contenders expected to appear on the ballot for the 2025 presidential race.
With the nomination papers approved, Chipojola can now proceed with full-scale campaign preparations and public engagement.
The Malawi Electoral Commission continues to carry out its mandate to ensure a credible and transparent nomination process for all candidates.
