Minister of Trade and Industry Vitumbiko Mumba has donated K5 million to support the construction of a computer laboratory and library at Katoto Islamic Secondary School in Mzuzu City.
Speaking during the donation handover ceremony, Mumba said he decided to support the project in recognition of the vital role Islamic institutions play in complementing government efforts to develop various sectors, including education.
“I believe in inclusive development, and faith-based institutions like this one are key partners in building the nation,” he said. “I also urge Muslims in the Northern Region to continue coexisting peacefully with Christians and people of other faiths. This spirit of unity is what President Lazarus Chakwera continuously promotes.”
Receiving the donation, the school’s Deputy Board Chairperson, Daniel Hussein, expressed gratitude for the minister’s gesture. He assured Mumba that the school remains committed to working hand-in-hand with the government to enhance education standards in the country.
The entire project is expected to cost K50 million and aims to provide modern learning facilities that will benefit hundreds of students at the institution.
