Kalindo warns opposition leaders 18 days to go for one alliance

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo, has warned opposition party leaders that they have 18 days remaining to form a grand opposition alliance that will see President Cakwera and his MCP led government accepting defeat before the 16th September, 2025 elections.

Kalindo said failure by the opposition leaders to meet and do the most needful, they should forget about winning the elections, the devil which walked on foot passing through this country, will be happy and stay in Malawi.

He has prayed to God to open the hearts of Professor Mutharika, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, Dr. Joyce Banda, Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa and Atupele Muluzi so that they sat together forgetting about the positions in government but Malawi first.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said Malawians are disappointed and they did not expect opposition candidates to present nomination papers that they will go alone for the 16th September, 2025 elections.

Kalindo has asked the opposition leaders to borrow a leaf from Northern Region political block leaders who did not submit their nomination papers to Mec but instead endorsing Professor Mutharika and his running mate for the sake of liberating Malawi.

He said had Dr. Bakili Muluzi feared that Professor Bingu wa Mutharika will take the UDF, he would not have let Bingu to disband his United Party (UP) to join the UDF and later, he became President of the country.

The activist has claimed that this fear of unknown, is what is making opposition leaders fail to unite and form a grand alliance questioning Dr. Bakili Muluzi on why he is so quiet without inviting these opposition leaders to a one meeting.

He has assured opposition party leaders that the MCP is doing all of what it can to remain in government allegedly claiming that they are distributing K4000s in exchange for voter registration certificates.

“Some have received K10 million to help the MCP and President Chakwera bounce back into government, at the mean- time, they are clapping hands that their strategic plans are working,” said Kalindo.

He has sent a strong warning to opposition leaders that should they fail to agree on one thing within these 18 remaining days, once President Chakwera and MCP bounces back into government, they will be targeted for arrests and prosecutions.

Kalindo has finally asked opposition party leaders that with the situation the country has reached, Malawians have suffered under President Chakwera and his MCP for 5 years, should they continue suffering for another 5 years to 2030?
