In a bold and heartwarming pledge that’s turning heads across Ntcheu, DPP’s Director of Youth and aspiring MP for Ntcheu Central East, Norman Chisale, has announced he will forgo his parliamentary salary and instead use the money to build houses for all group village headmen in the constituency.
Chisale made the declaration shortly after filing his nomination papers for the September 16 general elections, igniting excitement among traditional leaders and grassroots voters alike.
“I will not take any salary as an MP. I will personally fund the construction of houses for our group village headmen to restore dignity and accelerate development in our communities,” Chisale boldly stated.
The former presidential bodyguard, now turned politician, said his focus is not on personal gain but on grassroots development. He believes that empowering traditional leaders with better housing will strengthen leadership structures and inspire faster community transformation.
Locals in Ntcheu have welcomed the promise, with some calling it “a rare kind of leadership” that prioritizes people over politics.
As campaign season heats up, Chisale’s people-first approach may just be the game-changer that reshapes political expectations in the region.
