NSANJE — Former Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu Manda has taken his leadership game from the pitch to politics, pledging to end hunger and bring lasting development to Nsanje South West Constituency if elected in the September 16 parliamentary elections.
Speaking confidently after submitting his nomination papers at Nyamadzere Teacher Development Centre (TDC) on Wednesday, Nyamilandu promised bold solutions to the chronic hunger that has haunted the area for decades.
“I have come with a lasting solution to end hunger in this constituency. My goal is to uplift people’s lives, not just through food security, but also through quality education and modern infrastructure,” said the independent candidate.
Nyamilandu emphasized that, unlike previous interventions that have had short-term impact, his focus is on sustainable change—starting with agricultural reform, access to markets, and investment in irrigation systems.

The aspiring MP also lamented the lack of tangible development in the district since the exodus of the Asian business community years ago.
“We need bridges. We need more classrooms. We need to restore dignity in the lives of the people here,” he stated passionately.
Nyamilandu is entering a competitive race with eight other candidates, including incumbent Eurita Ntiza Valeta, as the people of Nsanje South West prepare to elect a new voice in Parliament.
🗳️ High Interest Across Nsanje
District Elections Officer Stanley Masala revealed that 35 parliamentary candidates, including nine women, have joined the race across Nsanje’s five constituencies. Additionally, 63 candidates are eyeing Local Government positions.
As Malawi heads into its September 16, 2025 General Elections, all eyes will be on whether Nyamilandu’s transition from football fields to political fields will score a win for the people of Nsanje.
