Munthali says leadership serve not blaming the people

By Vincent Gunde

Political analyst Burnett Munthali, says Malawians need leadership that does not blame people for its own failures but serving the people claiming that the current MCP led government has been blaming the DPP for its own failures.

Munthali said the brutal truth about Malawi’s inflation crisis under the MCP led government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has made the country moving in reverse from stability to sufferings observing that the skyrocketing prices of essential goods has become the order of the day in Malawi.

He has recalled that under the DPP led government of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Malawi’s inflation was stable, not just stable, but manageable saying it stood at 8.5 percent making families to budget for the whole month.

Speaking through SG Press, Munthali said looking into the pockets of people under the MCP government, the inflation has exploded to 41 percent expressing fears that this is not just a failure of policy, but it is a betrayal of the people describing it as economic abuse.

Munthali has accused the MCP government of failing to protect incomes, and savings of people saying this has resulted to failure of the country not to stabilize the Malawi Kwacha thereby increasing prices of essential goods at nobody’s care.

He said the MCP government has failed to manage the cost of maize making many households not affording to buy the commodity contributing to sleeping with empty stomachs and without hope for a better tomorrow.

The analyst has reminded the MCP and President Chakwera that Malawians are in pain and suffering, there sufferings is not politician’s sufferings, it is the hard-working Malawians that are suffering questioning the authorities that is this this the Malawi the citizens voted for and is this the kind of leadership that can be given another 5 years’ mandate to 2030?

He said time is now for the registered voters to say enough is enough, Malawians cannot continue to be suffering in the way they are today, urging the voters to let the 16th September, 2025 elections be a referendum of the 41 percent inflation rate by the MCP.

Munthali said Malawians are remembering that the DPP led government under Professor Mutharika controlled the inflation and they are ready to return to that path, claiming that the DPP is coming to fix what has been broken by the MCP government.

He has expressed hope that the DPP has done it before, and with support from all regardless of their political party affiliations, they will do it again to bring back stable prices, jobs, and dignity to make Malawi a better place to live.

The analyst has advised registered voters that when they walk to the polling booth on the 16th September, 2025 they should remember in their hearts 41 percent inflation that is defining the MCP failure in government.

Munthali has encouraged Malawians that they have power to change the country to the better through their vote saying with the DPP, better is not a dream but a plan, Malawi deserve a trusted leadership that know how to manage the economy not through speeches but restoration of hope.

He has finally encouraged Malawians that have felt pain with this MCP government to rise and vote for leaders of their choice in a quest to rebuild the broken Malawi advising them to vote wisely, vote the DPP for economic justice and recovery.
