The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has officially launched its 2025 election manifesto at a high-profile event held at Mount Soche Hotel in the city of Blantyre.
The event marks a significant step in the DPP’s campaign strategy as it outlines key policies and promises intended to attract voters ahead of the upcoming September general elections.
Leading the ceremony is Dr. Jane Ansah, the DPP’s presidential candidate for the 2025 election, who has taken center stage in presenting the party’s new vision for Malawi.
Adding weight to the occasion is the presence of Enoch Chihana, leader of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD), whose party has now formally entered into an alliance with the DPP.
The presence of Chihana signals a strategic political partnership that both parties hope will increase their chances of electoral victory.
However, former president Peter Mutharika, who leads the DPP, is not in attendance at the manifesto launch.
Instead, Mutharika is expected to preside over a major joint rally this afternoon at Njamba Freedom Park in Blantyre, where both DPP and AFORD are scheduled to address their supporters.
The rally at Njamba is anticipated to showcase unity and renewed energy within the DPP-AFORD alliance as they seek to consolidate support on the ground.
The dual events—one focused on policy and the other on mass mobilization—demonstrate the DPP’s comprehensive campaign approach as the election season intensifies.
As the political atmosphere heats up, all eyes are on how this alliance and the newly launched manifesto will influence the dynamics of the 2025 electoral race.
