The results of this year’s Mzuzu International Volleyball Championship have raised concerns about the progress of Malawi volleyball, with visiting teams showcasing a higher level of skill and energy.
Kampala International University (KUIT) from Tanzania emerged as the tournament’s top performers, claiming double glory by winning both the men’s and women’s finals.
In the women’s final, KUIT dominated Malawi’s Wolves Ladies with a 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-9, 25-23). The standings were as follows:
- 1st place: KUIT (Tanzania)
- 2nd place: Wolves Ladies (Malawi)
- 3rd place: Kamuzu Barracks Ladies
- 4th place: Ultimate Volleyball Club (UVC)
The men’s final showcased comeback victory, KUIT rallied from a set down to defeat St. Collins of Zimbabwe 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19).
The men’s standings were: – 1st place: KUIT (Tanzania)
- 2nd place: St. Collins (Zimbabwe)
- 3rd place: Kamuzu Barracks Men
- 4th place: Moyale Volleyball Team
The tournament’s results highlight the gap between Malawi volleyball and its international counterparts, emphasizing the need for local teams to improve their skills and competitiveness.
