Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Youth Governor for Lilongwe City speaking on a strict condition of anonymity has claimed that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera already campaigned for Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s victory on the 16th September, 2025 elections.
The Governor said if President Chakwera was governing the country well, people could not have time to go back to an old man Professor Mutharika claiming that poor style of leadership which has been demonstrated by President Chakwera has made Malawians to go back to Mutharika’s proven leadership.
He said President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was voted on trust by millions of Malawians to end corruption, tribalism, nepotism and favoritism in government saying on the sad note, these vices are the older of the day in the MCP led government.
The Youth Governor has advised the state-run MBC radio and television panelists on “Timvetse” programme that they are just wasting their time de-campaigning Professor Mutharika assuring MBC that there were others before, and have gone on leave.
He said the 2020 vote statistics clearly showed that the DPP got 1.8 million votes out of 2.2 million votes for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera assuring MBC Director General George Kasakula that the 1.8 million votes of the DPP are with the party.
The Governor said the figure of 1.8 million has gone up with AFORD joining the opposition alliance advising Kasakula and others on Timvetse programme not to think that their programme has an impact to change the peoples’ mindset to voting for President Chakwera.
He has challenged President Chakwera that if the September, 2025 elections is conducted just in the same way as the previous elections, there is no way he can win the elections claiming that only the Smartmatic machines will vote for Chakwera into government not the peoples’ vote.
The source said Afro –Barometer, the Institute of public Opinion and Research (IPOR) surveys have already indicated that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is winning the elections not on the table as Smartmatic machines but on the ground.
He said there is no need for Professor Mutharika to go flat out campaigning for votes saying his Lieutenants will campaign for him not as his wish but the wishes of Malawians that he remained indoor and away from MCP youth operatives that have conspired to kill him.
‘There have been alleged stories of 400 guns distributed to MCP youth operatives, gunshots exchanged at Mponela trading centre, panga wielding thugs hacking and terrorizing innocent people, these stories have attracted no comment from the MCP government” said the source.
He said President Chakwera only condemned violence on paper without taking action to his boys a clear evidence that MCP is sponsoring its youth to be carrying out atrocities against members of the opposition political parties.
The source has finally assured DPP members and supporters to work together for one common purpose of winning the 2025 elections, assuring all that have escorted Professor Mutharika to an early grave, that proven leadership is coming with Professor Mutharika on the 16th September, 2025.
