A Concerned Citizen of Malawi residing at Area 51 in Lilongwe- Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda, has urged opposition party leaders to beef up their security ahead of the much-anticipated 16th September, 2025 elections claiming that the devil is following their footsteps.
Kaliza Banda was responding to a face book page by former President Dr. Joyce Banda that the vehicle registration number BT 11655 just hit her convoy last Saturday evening on her way from Blantyre where she had a mass rally at Nyambadwe ground.
“I am grateful to the police who rushed to help and record the incident, it will be my God against yours, mark things day,” reads Dr. Joyce Banda’s writings on the wall.
It has been reported that the incident happened at Njuli in Chiladzulu when an unknown vehicle hit the vehicle Dr. Joyce Banda uses when she is addressing whistle-stops campaign meetings but the motive behind is not known.
Police have promised to investigate the incident to identify its cause, but Malawians have reacted to the incident that if the incident happened to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy or ministers, by today, Malawians could have learnt the cause of the accident.
Kaliza Banda said memories are still fresh that the police promised to investigate MCP panga wielding thugs who have been terrorizing, hacking, intimidating and threatening innocent people in Malawi but to this day, they are investigating it on paper.
She said there have been an incident in Mponela-Dowa where Gangata’s convoy was ambushed and in the process, a minibus carrying DPP members was torched, investigations by Police have died a natural death.
The citizen said AFORD President Enoch Kamzingeni Chihana reported to Police for two times that unknown police officers armed with guns visited his house at Area 9 inquiring about him and at Mchesi Township, his convoy was ambushed, there have been no action by police to this day.
She said to make matter worse, activist Sylvester Namiwa was bruised by MCP well identified youth operatives leaving him half-dead, police and MDF officers were just looking at the attackers without any attempt to rescue him.
Kaliza said what has happened to Dr. Joyce Banda can happen to any other opposition leader and high on the agenda to be killed is Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who is making the MCP shaken claiming that by today, DPP could have gone to the 16th September, 2025 elections without a presidential candidate, but God is saving his life to this day.
“Let Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika remain at his house, President Chakwera and his team will be campaigning for him, the works of his hands are speaking for him in the eyes of all Malawians,” she said.
Kaliza has asked all women in Malawi regardless of their political party affiliations to stand up and condemn this barbaric act on Dr. Joyce Banda claiming that Dr. Joyce Banda has never and ever insulted and castigated President Chakwera and his MCP and what offence has she committed warranting to his convoy being ambushed?
