A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) constituency chairman in Lilongwe speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has suspected that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is captured from within the party’s machinery.
The chairman said the way President Chakwera has governed Malawi for 5 years, if it was the church, many members could have broken away and join other religious congregations observing that the decisions he is making, are not coming from him.
He said he suspects that President Chakwera fears one, two or three people in the party who are so powerful and their decisions are passed to President Chakwera to speak to the general public or to remain quiet.
Malawi Congress Party Accused Sabotaging AIP Enquiry
The source said President Chakwera in his address to the nation informed Malawians that there are individuals at NOCMA who are conniving with opposition parties to sabotage his government for Malawians to label him a failure.
He said on the surprising note, President Chakwera said he knows who these people are and they know for themselves that after the elections on 16th September, 2025, they will all be fired saying this statement alone has been proved that there is no one sabotaging his government but shifting the blame to the opposition DPP.
The MCP chairman has reminded MCP family and supporters that President Chakwera presented a half-truths State of the Nations Address (SONA) in parliament when he outlined development projects his government has implemented in 5 years.
He said it was sad to note that many of the projects he outlined to have been completed were not existing on the ground, some had drainages for foundations meaning that their implementation was done on paper and not on the ground.
The chairman said MCP Parliamentarian for Rumphi was the first to react that the project President Chakwera outlined for a health centre is not existing in the district and this made other MPs to voice out their concerns from their constituencies.
“President Chakwera is on record having withdrawn his SONA, bringing shame not only to the MCP as a party but the entire 22 million plus citizens,” he said.
He said President Chakwera did not bother to establish a commission of inquiry to establish the truth on the projects completed on paper, arresting and prosecuting some officials but clapping hands at them for a job beautifully done to implement projects on paper.
The MCP Chairman said today, President Chakwera has repeated the very same blunder he made in Parliament on the NOCMA issue that he will fire them after 16th September, 2025 elections speaking clearly that President Chakwera Is captured.
