A recent survey conducted by the International Institute for Research Development in Africa (IIRDA), a Malawi-based research organization, indicates that Lazarus Chakwera, leader of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), is poised to win the upcoming presidential election. According to the survey, Chakwera is projected to secure 4.07 million votes, representing 56% of the total votes, giving him a clear lead over his competitors.
Peter Mutharika of DPP in Second Place
The survey shows that Peter Mutharika, leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), is expected to come second with 1.96 million votes, which accounts for 27.2% of the anticipated voter turnout.
UTM Party and Other Competitors
The United Transformation Movement (UTM) and its leader, Dalitso Kabambe, are projected to receive 480,000 votes, representing 6.6% of the total. Other smaller parties are estimated to collectively gather 8% of votes.
