A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has questioned President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera that what is it exactly he wants from Malawians to do with him after losing the 16th September, 2025 elections?

Kamphangala said it is sad that President Chakwera and the MCP went to the High Court of Malawi seeking to restrain the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) from announcing the 16th September, 2025 official presidential election results.

He has asked President Chakwera and the MCP to respect the will of the people saying MCP de-campaigned itself through rampant corruption, thieving in government, nepotism and above all, taking the citizens for granted.

The MCP diehard has asked President Chakwera and the MCP not to cry of vote rigging by the DPP observing that they were not praying for free and fair elections, saying they were for poisonous elections only that poison has gone back to the sender.

He said if the MCP was for free and fair elections, they would have listened to the growing calls from Malawians for Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, and Mec Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mpesi to resign for others who are neutral to take up the positions, but MCP was quiet.

Kamphangala said the MCP and President Chakwera were confidence enough that Mec being run by MCP loyalists, nothing will stop the party from claiming victory on the 16th September, 2025 elections but God has proved to them the opposite.

He said MCP was over confidence with Mec’s leadership that it is comprised of one of their own members saying this why they rejected independent audit of the voters’ rol, manual counting and l manual transmission from constituency to the main tally centre in Lilongwe.

The MCP diehard said the High Court of Malawi ordered Mec to go ahead with the transmission of results electronically but the results must not be announced recommending for manual counting and manual transmission of results.

“The DPP has rigged the elections, which one biometric or manual for the court to nullify the results, disqualifying the winner and declaring President Chakwera the winner or Re-Run in 3 -month period,” questioned Kamphangala.

He has finally joined mounting calls that are going to President Chakwera to accept defeat honorably and congratulate the winning President- Elect Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika challenging him that even if Mec hold Re-Run today, he and the MCP cannot win.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) news reported that the 85 year –old Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has received 66 percent of the valid votes counted so far, with the closest rival Dr. Lazarus Chakwera trailing on around 24 percent.
