Ntcheu Centres begin transporting results amid lighting challenges

By Burnett Munthali

Random spot checks conducted have revealed that many polling centres in Ntcheu are now ready to begin transporting their results to the district tally centre at Ntcheu Secondary School.

At the same time, the tally centre is on standby, awaiting the official arrival of results from across the district.

In most polling centres, the counting of votes is drawing to a close, as staff work to ensure all ballots are properly recorded.

Reports indicate that the voting process was generally well-managed and peaceful, with no major incidents being reported throughout the day.

Despite this progress, poor lighting has emerged as a key challenge in several polling centres, raising concerns about the accuracy of counting and recording.

At Kamtemba Primary School Polling Centre, in the area of Chief Kwataine, polling staff were observed using torchlight to provide illumination so that the counting process could continue.

The determination of polling staff and the patience of voters have been widely commended, as the district now moves closer to finalizing its results.
