Mutharika’s swearing-in to be held at Kamuzu Stadium under theme of proven leadership

Blantyre, October 2 – Preparations are in full swing for the swearing-in and inauguration of President-Elect Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, which is set to take place at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The Organising Committee for the President-Elect held a press briefing at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre to update the nation on the event.

Chairperson of the committee, Dr. Jean Mathanga, announced that the ceremony will be conducted under the theme “Great Return to Proven Leadership.”

She explained that the press briefing was convened not only to confirm logistical arrangements but also to highlight the symbolic meaning of the theme.

According to Mathanga, the inauguration will serve as a historic moment for the country, bringing together citizens and leaders in celebration of democratic continuity.

The committee confirmed that high-profile dignitaries have been invited to attend the ceremony, including former presidents of Malawi.

Other prominent regional and international guests are also expected to be in attendance, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

Mathanga further noted that both the President-Elect and the Vice President-Elect will officially take their oaths of office during the event on Saturday, October 4.

She reassured the public that preparations were at an advanced stage and that security, seating arrangements, and logistical issues had all been carefully planned.

The committee urged Malawians to turn up in large numbers at Kamuzu Stadium to witness what it described as a defining moment in the nation’s political journey.

Observers say the event will not only mark the formal transition of power but also highlight Malawi’s commitment to democratic values and peaceful leadership changes.
