President Arthur Peter Mutharika‘s inauguration speech was a call to action for all Malawians.
With conviction and determination, he declared, “The mighty DPP is back!” The crowd’s thunderous applause echoed through the venue, Kamuzu Stadium, a testament to the people’s desire for change.
The president’s words were a breath of fresh air, promising a new era of leadership built on integrity, transparency, and accountability.
“Malawi belongs to its people not to any individual, tribe, or party,” he emphasised.
He vowed to tackle corruption, restore discipline, and bring government back to the people.
With Vice President Jane Ansah and other dignitaries in attendance, president Mutharika outlined his vision for a prosperous Malawi.
“We are not here to feast. We are here to serve,” he said.
The crowd applauded, sensing a new dawn in Malawian politics.
The president’s message was clear: change was not just a promise, but a commitment. He called on all Malawians to join hands in building a better future, one marked by peace, prosperity and opportunity for all.
As he concluded his speech, the crowd erupted into cheers, eager to embark on this new journey with their leaders.
President Mutharika’s inauguration came after winning the September 16,2025 presidential election with 3,035,249 votes (56.8%) defeating his main contender, Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) who secured 1,765,170 votes (33.0%).
Seventeen people ran for the presidential race during the September 16 general elections.
Mutharika becomes Malawi’s seventh president, succeeding Chakwera who ousted him in the 2020 fresh presidential elections.
